Chynara Dobulbekova is the director of central library of the city of Tash – Kumyr. She became a director of the library quite recently. Chynara won a contest of 5 applicants for this position.
She used to work as a teacher of Russian language and literature at school – gymnasium № 14. Her pedagogical experience is 17 years. “From the very childhood I dreamed of becoming a teacher of Russian language and literature, therefore I entered to the philological faculty of the university. I love my profession, I love children and would love to go back to school one day”- she says. Chynara believes that her new job is still associated with the school, because the school library and school are work in one direction – education.
In her new position Chynara immediately started active work. “Monitoring on the readability of the population showed that 25-35 % of the total population of the town of Tash- Kumyr is youth and only 10-15 % of them read regularly” – she said. At the same time, the city has six libraries: one central, the other for children and four are centralized library branch. There is a rich library fund; there are more than 190 thousand books.
It was obvious for the urban central library that they needed a project that would correspond to modern conditions and satisfies youth’s requirements: high technology, modern, accessible, free of charge. People need the project which could allow local youth to obtain and share information. It is very important for young readers to come to the library to read, be informedand assimilate the information as well as to apply this knowledge in the necessary, useful things for society.
Very soon there was found a suitable donor and partners to implement this wonderful idea. Now the project is implementing with the support of the German International Cooperation (GIZ) and in partnership with the town council library in Bishkek. The amount of the project is 10000 soms.
Within the framework of the projects library was renovated. The necessary equipments were purchased. In the near future urban youth will be able to use the electronic library with access to Wi-Fi and get all sorts of information for development. Young people will have access to e-books and textbooks that are available in the Internet.
Chynara Dobulbekova is pretty confident to interest the young generation of Tash – Kumyr in reading books. “I wish young people visit the library, raise their horizons and thereby benefit society. After all, these project aim to ensure young people to create, acted and succeed “, – expressed her wishes Chynara.
